New Business Cards from Tiny Prints

March 31st, 2011 — 6:00am

Business cards are something that have become a staple for me to have at all times. You just never know when you might meet someone, spark up a conversation, and need to reach in your handbag to grab that all important piece of contact information. I’ve always made my own designs, but a few weeks ago, I received the opportunity to review a set of business cards from Tiny Prints.

Tiny Prints provides simple, modern and unique stationery from Mother’s Day cards to personalized greeting cards to thank you cards, business cards, and even custom wedding invitations. Offering exclusive designs from the nation’s top designers, easy card personalization, a powerful preview engine and top-notch customer service and paper quality, their designs have been lauded by numerous television networks, publications and celebrities. With Tiny Prints by your side commemorating every holiday and momentous occasion is a cinch! They offer perfect party invitations for every occasion and memorable personalized photo-gifts like notebooks, photo books and calendars.

I was super excited to go through the ordering process and pick out my design. I actually went with one of their templates and thought I’d be bold and even add my picture to the business cards. There’s something about receiving a business card with someone’s picture on it….it just adds that face, that personality to the business, and I myself am more likely to remember that person. I wanted something simple, yet snappy, so I chose the Upper Management cards. The ordering process was really easy, besides making sure my picture was sized right before I uploaded it to the design. I wanted it to be sized/placed just right.:) (I scanned it in below, also blurring out some of my info; they are crystal clear in person.)The left side of the business card includes my information, such as my title, my name, and all of my business information. The right side includes both my picture and the name of my blog. These cards are also double-sided, so on the back I have my blog logo. The only issue I have is that when putting my blog name beneath my picture on the front side, I added color to my blog name before ever uploading it to Tiny Prints; I shouldn’t have done that. With the green outline, it looks like part of that blue box is cut off on the bottom of the card. These business cards still have a very professional look, though, and besides that tiny glitch (which was my own fault), I love them. In fact, I plan to order more like these before heading off to Blogher this summer. You too can make your very own professional business cards; they are a must in the business of social media, and Tiny Prints have so many designs and layouts to choose from. You can order the Upper Management cards for as low as $.64 cents apiece. They are quality cards that will promote your business in a great way. Be sure to Like Tiny Prints on Facebook, and follow @TinyPrints on Twitter.

(Disclosure: I received $50 worth of business cards, free of charge, from Tiny Prints, for the purposes of this review. All views/opinions are solely my own.)

The Mountains Bow Down by Sibella Giorello

March 23rd, 2011 — 5:00am

The Mountains Bow Down, by Sibella Giorello, is the second book in the Raleigh Harmon series. Raleigh is an FBI agent that has gone on a cruise with her mother and aunt, as a sort of “vacation.” Only, it’s not a real vacation; she’s still working as a consultant for a movie that is filming onboard. She’s also dealing with family issues, while trying to figure out her own love life, at the same time.

From the beginning of the book, I was sucked into the mystery surrounding the death of a movie star’s wife. She was apparently hung over the side of the ship, and authorities were all too quick to deem this a suicide. Raleigh, however, was not; she knew that something more dangerous and sinister was going on and that someone walking amongst them was the murderer. Now, she just needed to solve this mystery….on her vacation.

Raleigh isn’t left to deal with this on her own, though. To her misfortune, Jack Stephanson, another agent, was brought onboard to help investigate further. Raleigh’s faith is tested on this cruise, as is her commitment to Demott, her fiance. Does she stay in a loveless relationship with someone she knows is not right for her? Is she able to find a murderer before someone else is hurt? I’ll let you read the book to find out.

Having not read the first book in this series, at first, I didn’t really know what was going on in Raleigh’s life. The author does a good job, though, of including little details and information that the reader needs to know to kinda catch up, per se. Much of the book is centered around dialogue; however, this means no less of a mystery or adventure for the reader who picks up this book. It’s definitely a great read if you’re wanting a suspense novel that not only provides mystery and suspense but also faith-filled lessons for life. You can purchase The Mountains Bow Down for $10.05 on Amazon.

About The Mountains Bow Down: Everything’s going to work out. Time away always makes things better . . ..

That’s what FBI Special Agent Raleigh Harmon believes as she boards a cruise to Alaska. A land of mountains and gems and minerals, The Last Frontier is a dream destination for this forensic geologist who’s hoping to leave behind a hectic work schedule and an engagement drained of romance.

But when a passenger goes missing and winds up dead, Raleigh’s vacation suddenly gets lost at sea. The ship’s security chief tries to rule the death a suicide, but Raleigh’s forensics background points to a much darker conclusion: Somewhere onboard, a ruthless murderer walks free.

Engulfed by one of her toughest cases yet, Raleigh requests assistance from the FBI and receives her nemesis-perpetual ladies man Special Agent Jack Stephanson. As the cruise ship sails through the Inside Passage, Raleigh has five days to solve a high-profile murder, provide consultation for a movie filming onboard, and figure out her increasingly complicated feelings for Jack-who might not be such a jerk after all.

And that’s only her work life. Family offers even more challenges. Joined on the cruise by her mother and aunt, Raleigh watches helplessly as disturbing rifts splinter her family.

Like the scenery that surrounds the cruise ship, Raleigh discovers a situation so steep and so complex that even the mountains might bow down.
