Today has been quite a day, in a good way….my mom and dad just called a bit ago to tell me that they’d found Mo, their sweet kitty who’s been lost for about 2 weeks now. He somehow got locked in an old truck, but miraculously, he is fit as a fiddle! Granted, he was glad to get out of that truck….and I can’t imagine that the truck is as fit as Mo might be.:)
This sweet girl is Ladybug. My parents have had Ladybug since I was about 18 years old. I came back from Papua New Guinea, and my dad had gotten Ladybug; she was just a tiny little pup, so cute! She’s getting pretty old now (in dog years); she’s about 15 years old. Last time I visited, she’d had a stroke. You’ll notice she has a small dent in the left side of her forehead….the vet says that’s because the muscle is wasted away from the stroke. Her eye doesn’t work as well on that side either, plus she’s completely deaf. That doesn’t keep Ladybug down, though. She might move a little slower, but she’s just as friendly, loving, and loyal as ever.Ladybug’s been my parents’ constant companion all this time. If the truck is going, she’s in it….not as much anymore. When she gets to ride these days, she’s in high cotton.Honestly, I can’t imagine a Heaven without our loving pets. What do you think? Do you have a loyal pet, a constant companion, that’s been there for you?
Picnics are just the essence of spring, aren’t they? Spring was made for catching butterflies….Spring was made for picnics on a quilt, basking in the warmth of the sunshine….Spring was made for lazy days in the sun….Spring was made for spending time with the ones you love….
Some days, I have to admit….it’d be nice to have even a minute to enjoy a bonbon or two, while lazing on the couch watching a soap opera or a talk show.
I got to thinking today, though. Do Mint Kisses in between loads of laundry and grading math problems (without my calculator, of course) and meeting work commitments, count as bonbons? (Hey, don’t judge me on the calculator part….we’re into thousands now, & some days I, frankly, just don’t have the energy to sit there and borrow in my head.) Does the soap opera of my own life count, as I sneak into the laundry room to enjoy the escape of a Mint Kiss, while my toddler and 8 year old duke it out over Spiderman or Mater? And although I don’t even have a second to laze on the couch through the day, let alone hours….does sitting down to change a poopy diaper while watching Elmo or T.U.F.F. Puppy count? Let’s not even get into the drama of potty training; let’s just not go there.Â
Oh, the life of Mommy & her bonbons….er, um….Mint Kisses.
Tim Hawkins just never gets old! He is hilarious! This time he’s back with his outrageous descriptions of the candy we all remember.:) “Weekends were made for snickeloaf, you know what I’m talkin’ about?” LOL Enjoy!
